Not tell me A story. Tell me AGAIN. She's heard it before. That's not why she wants it. She wants it because it's hers now, this story, and she wants to hear it live again.
Look at her face. She's not just listening. She's participating. The story is walking into her body as her grandmother speaks.
If you look at her hair, Hawk is emerging, small, still forming. On her shoulder, Squirrel is already there in his top hat. Because that's what happens when a story is told well. It doesn't stay in the room. It moves into the listener, as it moves into the teller.
The written lines in the background are the words of the telling. Some are readable.
